Bartholomew Broadbent founded Broadbent and Broadbent Selections in 1996; Broadbent Selections is a leading U.S. importer representing 30+ wineries worldwide and was twice nominated Best Importer by Wine Enthusiast (most recently at the 2020 Wine Star Awards), while also owning the Auctioneer (Napa Valley), the Architect (Alexander Valley), and co-owning The Curator with Badenhorst Family Wines in South Africa. Broadbent is also a wine producer—named a Wine & Spirits Top 100 Winery of 2020—known for Madeira, Port, Portuguese table wines, and the best-selling Broadbent Vinho Verde; Broadbent Single Cask Madeira was named a Wine & Spirits Top 100 Wine of 2020. Recognized by Decanter as one of the “fifty most influential in the wine world” and by Wine & Spirits as a driver of revolutionary change, he is credited with teaching America about Port in the 1980s and re-launching Madeira in the U.S. in 1989. A frequent speaker and judge, he has appeared on major cruise lines, hosts Wine Wednesdays on Viking TV, served as KFOG’s “Wine Guy,” and was Reserve Tasting Director at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen for 25 years; his career includes work with Hennessy in Cognac, Steven Spurrier in Paris, and an apprenticeship with his father, Michael Broadbent MW, and he now lives in Richmond, Virginia with his wife and two children.
