Alex Pfluger
Owner/Winemaker
Weingut Pfluger
The Pflüger family has farmed land on the edge of the Palatinate Forest near Bad Dürkheim for 200 years. Initially as a mixed agricultural business and since the end of the 1970s solely as a winery. As for the region in which we have lived and worked for so long, we have an intimate relationship. We protect, what we love.
Alex Pfluger is the head and heart of the winery. A family man rooted in his homeland and at home in the wider world; an appreciation of Burgundy grew during his winemaking studies and continues to influence the style of our wines. In the cellar, the vineyard and the office, Alex holds the reins.
At a time when few were talking about it, Bernd Pflüger (Alex’s father), took the leap into organic farming. He was one of the first from a handful of Palatinate winegrowers who converted their businesses. At the end of the 1980s, they were the organic pioneers.
The estate is currently 40 Ha Organic and Biodynamic with a focus on Pinot Noir, Riesling, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc.
