Mark Neal is a Napa Valley organic and Biodynamic® farming pioneer and the founder and owner of Neal Family Vineyards. Raised in Rutherford as the son of a farmer, he was immersed in viticulture early and credits his maternal grandmother with inspiring the family’s early adoption of biodynamics. After buying a Howell Mountain AVA property in 1990, he transformed it into his family home and built his estate winery on-site in 1998—drawing the architectural plans himself and constructing key features with his team, including rock walls and wine caves. Mark also runs Jack Neal and Son (JNS) Vineyard Management, which has grown substantially under his leadership and supports organic and biodynamic farming across thousands of acres, helping cement his reputation as one of Napa’s most respected winegrowers.
