Andrea Cecchi, President and CEO, was born in 1959 in Poggibonsi, in the province of Siena.
Andrea studied in Florence, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Sciences at the Institute of Agricultural Technology. He then completed his university studies within graduate school in Piacenza and earned a Masters in Oenology, graduating with highest honors. The subject of his thesis was the role of cork in modern winemaking.
Even in his younger years, the technical aspects of winemaking always fascinated Andrea and he travelled widely both in Italy and abroad to pursue his interest and insights.
Andrea has played an active role in managing Cecchi Company as well as the Cecchi Family Estates since 1989. He represents the fourth generation at the helm of the company, fund in 1893 by his great grandfather Luigi.
In recent decades, Andrea has held key roles as Head Winemaker from 1993 to 2004, the year in which, with the death of his father, he began a managerial path that lead him to todays’ role of President and CEO of the company.
During his professional career in the family company, Andrea has remained heavily involved in the agronomic and oenological activities, his great passions.
Since always, he has strongly focused on indigenous Tuscan and Umbrian grapes and their potential in their native territories, always seeking to create wines expressing the uniqueness and authenticity of the Family Estate terroirs.
Above all, Andrea has always considered environment and sustainability as fundamental aspects in the approach to his family business evolution, inspired by the ideal of acting like caretakers of the land, treasuring as much as possible the earth and its resources.
